Helping Your Business

Problems occur regularly that slow down any business. I have years of attending to complicated, but common equipment related hiccups and failures.

If I don’t already know how to fix the problem, I can YouTube the correct fix or communicate with Techs and other appropriate experts to work together to solve/fix the problem/equipment.

I have also developed handiwork skills, including woodworking and basic repairs (installing fixtures and creative cost-saving equipment maintenance/repair).

The experience I have with these troubleshooting adventures also contributes to cost savings for a business. Cost savings can include: Saving time on expensive labor for repairs, practicing good maintenance schedules to prevent early equipment failures, and tackling problems myself before automatically calling the expensive experts.

Office equipment: printers, modems/routers, computers (PC), POS systems, KDS systems, payment processors, safes, phones, scanners, DVRs, and audio/video devices (cameras, music players, etc).

Other equipment: refrigeration, heating and air, plumbing, electrical, building repairs

Save the Business Money

Whether a business earns income by retail or service sales, all businesses have expenses that can be scrutinized for cost savings. I have experience controlling costs in several areas through cost analysis and action planning/implementation.

Food costs: For food cost analysis using Sysco Studio, I was able to implement food batch and item cost recipes to accurately price entrees within the acceptable food cost percentage.

Alcohol costs: I developed a Google Sheets inventory and cost spreadsheet – accurately programming cocktail recipes drawing data from alcohol cost sheets to price beverages to the appropriate cost percentage.

Ongoing costs: I created a month-to-month breakdown cost spreadsheet for each year for labor, alcohol, and food for the restaurant. This helps with looking closely at where money may be hemorrhaging. I compared labor costs to sales and costs of goods sold.

Video surveillance: I have utilized video surveillance to help with product loss and employee behavior/management concerns. Labor schedules were altered, and management measures were taken.

Adaptable and Detail-Oriented

The owner of a small business has many hats to wear and demands on their time. Business growth, employee management, cost management, brand management, and demands that come from the goals and values that a business owner has, that they commit themselves to as entrepreneurs. For businesses to survive and thrive, they must adapt, and an assistant also has to adapt to the needs/demands of the employer.

My value as an employee or contracted assistant is in being adaptable, detail-oriented, and autonomously goal-oriented.

I’m organized: list writing, calendar keeping, and managing my time to accomplish both regular tasks and new challenges.

Ready for new demands: some tasks may require investigation, research, and problem-solving, others creativity, or diplomacy. Whether the task requires working with the public, planning an event, creating social media posts, or thinking and creating using the tools available today to build the business.

A why and how mentality: Being detail-oriented means that no matter what is asked I can focus on the both the whole and the parts of anything (from written words, to mechanical, to digital, to abstract, etc). If given something new to do/learn, I tackle it with a DIY mentality. This also lends itself to having thorough knowledge of products/services.
